Volunteer with us

You can make a difference

If you want to help other people change their lives, we'd love to have you on the team. Our amazing volunteers help us make a real difference. You'll give people support and inspiration that will help them change their lives for the better.

We welcome people from all backgrounds and walks of life, and we’re grateful to everyone who makes up our charity.

Most of our volunteer opportunities don’t need any qualifications; we’ll make sure you get all the training and support you need. All we ask is that you're kind, open-minded and passionate about supporting people. If you've got personal experience of the issues our services help people with, one of your options for volunteering is becoming a peer mentor. Peer mentors support and inspire other people who are starting out on their own journey.

We want everyone to feel at home

The people who use our services come from all backgrounds and walks of life, and everyone should feel like they belong.

That's why it's so important we have a diverse team of volunteers that represents the communities we support.

Everyone is welcome at Change Grow Live. As a volunteer you will be treated with respect and accepted for who you are.

We have received the Silver Award from Stonewall as an LGBT+ inclusive employer. We are also committed to supporting disabled people to work and volunteer with us. We are a Disability Confident Committed workplace, and are working towards becoming a Disability Confident Employer.

We pride ourselves on offering meaningful volunteering opportunities. Anyone seeking to volunteer with us can be assured that they will have an outstanding experience and that the time they donate will make a real and lasting impact. Our volunteering offer is endorsed by the Investing in Volunteers quality standard, which shows just how much we value the contributions of our volunteers.

Benefits of volunteering

Change Grow Live is a place where you are respected and your wellbeing comes first.

Below are some of the benefits that we offer to our volunteers.

Recognition

We know that many people are motivated to give their time simply to give back. But that doesn’t stop us from regularly saying "thank you." As a volunteer at Change Grow Live, the contribution you are making will be recognised regularly. There are a variety of ways we do this, including marking the annual national Volunteers' Week.

Health and wellbeing

We know the importance of balancing and managing volunteering alongside other commitments, needs and interests. At Change Grow Live, you are entitled to:

Choose when and how frequently you volunteer. Some of our roles are also suitable for remote working.

Access our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP). Life can present many challenges which impact on you at home and when volunteering. The EAP is designed to help you deal with such problems, and offers confidential, one-to-one support covering topics from work and home life, mind and body, legal issues and money. EAP can be accessed by volunteers and their family members.

Free eye tests when you start using display screen equipment for your volunteering role, and follow-up tests at regular intervals. We will also pay for the cost of basic corrective spectacles.

Our wellbeing hour, which entitles all our colleagues to one hour each week to do something that makes them feel good.

Equality, diversity and inclusion

The people who use our services come from a wide range of backgrounds, and so do our colleagues. We aim to celebrate diversity in our workplace to create an inclusive culture by offering dedicated time and space for people to connect.

We have a variety of forums where you can come together with other Change Grow Live staff and volunteers to discuss accessibility, diversity, equality and many more topics.

Via our colleague recognition and benefits platform, Boost, you can access:

We'd love to hear from you

We want as many people as possible to be able to volunteer, whether you’re also working full time, studying or retired. Most of our volunteering roles have flexible hours, so you can volunteer in a way that fits around the time you can give.

If you would like to volunteer, take a look at the roles we have available. There is a description of each role, and information about how to apply.
